Jay Prince is an artist who caught the attention of listeners and artists alike after his mixtape BeFor Our Time. Already well into his career, demonstrating a patience synonymous with success, Jay Prince has been releasing music for over a decade.
His music often incorporates elements of jazz and soul, and as well as his musicianship, he is praised for his poetic, down-to-earth and introspective lyrics. He recently released his long-awaited debut album, SHINE. An album packed with collaborations, from Yussef Dayes to Estelle, and a major turning point in the rapper's career. The album was inspired by a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo and a desire to do something different from his previous work.
From freestyle sessions in school playgrounds to his forthcoming gig at the AB club, it's been a long road to get to this point. But as he recently said at an event, "the journey is the best part".
